Kindness makes the cut at Ogmore Vale Primary School

It’s said that adversity can bring out the best in people and this was proven true by recent events at Ogmore Vale Primary School. Faced by current financial challenges, parents were offered some support through the kindness of two local hairdressers, Julie Grant and Lisa Morgan. The two ladies gave their time and skills for free, providing children with haircuts, ready for their return to school.

Nantymoel community welcomes new childcare provision.

Bridgend County Borough Council’s Flying Start childcare expansion programme is benefitting another local community, as all two- to three-year-olds living in Nantymoel become eligible for funded childcare provision.

National Adoption Week calls on more Welsh people to consider adoption

This National Adoption Week (16-22 October), the National Adoption Service for Wales (NAS) is continuing its mission to get more people to consider adoption, as sibling groups, children with additional needs, and older children across Wales still wait to find their ‘forever home’.

Ty Pen y Bont community garden project promises a fruitful future

September 29 marked the formal opening of the Ty Pen y Bont community project, an initiative offering plentiful opportunities for all those involved. The launch included Senedd members Huw Irranca-Davies and Sarah Murphy, as well as Deputy Leader, Councillor Jane Gebbie, who officially opened the garden.

Active travel route from Ynysawdre is underway

With help from Welsh Government funding for active travel routes across Wales, Bridgend County Borough Council will soon begin work on a new active travel route from Ynysawdre (seen in red on the map). This route will link two points on the existing active travel network, as well as provide the start of a proposed future route, continuing to the east of the River Ogmore.
