Transport policy and strategy
In May 2015, the Welsh Government approved our Local Transport Plan (LTP). The LTP covers Bridgend County Borough and sets out our priorities for transport investment over 15 years. The LTP’s primary focus is to address issues relating to local transport and how it can enable economic growth and change travel behaviour.
The LTP supersedes the Regional Transport Plan and has been written within the context of the Welsh Government’s draft National Transport Finance Plan 2017 Update. Our LTP’s schemes are those which we have currently identified. However, we will consider for future versions any other schemes identified that support the LTP’s vision.
Because of relevant issues that need planning together, our LTP has made connections with proposals and timescales for the three neighbouring local authorities where possible. Rhondda Cynon Taf and the Vale of Glamorgan have now left the defunct Sewta regional transport consortium and joined us in the Cardiff Capital Region. The Cardiff Capital Region has significant economic and transport influence for Bridgend County Borough.
