Renew or apply for a residents parking permit
Parking permits are free for existing permit zones and £20 for all new schemes, the aim is to allow residents to be able to park near their property.
What you will need to provide when applying for or renewing a resident’s permit are for the following:
- Your driving licence - must show your name, the address and be in date.
- Your V5 log-book - must show your name, the vehicle registration number and the address. or
- Your insurance schedule or insurance certificate and covering letter - must show your name, the address, the vehicle registration number and the start and end date of the insurance.
- Your driving licence - must show your name, the address and be in date.
- Letter from your employer on company headed paper - stating that you will need the vehicle for work, and the vehicle will be parked at your address overnight (the address of where the vehicle will be kept overnight must be included in the letter) and that the car is taxed, MOT, and insured by the company
- OR your insurance schedule or insurance certificate and covering letter if the company does not insure the vehicle, and must show your name, the address, the vehicle registration number and the start and end date of the insurance.
- Your driving licence - must show your name, the address and be in date.
- The lease company agreement - must show the address and the vehicle registration number.
- Your insurance schedule or insurance certificate and covering letter - must show your address, vehicle registration number and the start and end date of the insurance.
- Your driving licence - must show your name, the address and be in date.
- Your Motability agreement - must show the vehicle registration, the address and the driver of the vehicle.
- Your Motability insurance schedule - must show the vehicle registration number and the start and end date of the insurance.
Apply online
Applications can take up to 5 working days to be checked and processed. Until you receive your digital permit, you will not be allowed to park in a resident’s bay.
When you submit your application online you are then sent an email confirming that they have received your application, and we can accept this email as your V5 proof.

If you are unable to provide your driving licence or V5 logbook because you have the wrong address you can change your address on your vehicle log book (V5C) on the Gov.uk website.
