Remembrance Day 2024
Remembrance Sunday is an opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.
Remembrance events are just one of the ways we can help to ensure the sacrifices of those who served are never forgotten.
Below are some Remembrance events taking place across the county borough.
Memorial Service
Friday 8 November, 10.30am
Llangynwyd Village Hall
A Memorial Service will be held followed by the laying of wreaths at the war memorial. Refreshments will be available at the hall afterwards.
Organised by Llangynwyd Middle Community Council.
Royal British Legion Festival concert
Friday 8 November 2024, 7pm
Nantyffyllon Rugby Club
£5 on the door.

Children and Family Remembrance Parade and Service
Saturday 9 November, 10.20am
Wyndham Street, Bridgend
This event is arranged specifically for younger children and families and will provide an opportunity for primary school aged children to learn about the importance of Remembrance.
Children will actively participate in the event by gathering at the top of Wyndham Street from 10.20am in readiness to march to the War Memorial in Dunraven Place, where Reverend Rachel Wheeler will conduct a short Remembrance Service.

Saturday 9 November, 10.45am
Cornelly Community Centre
Remembrance Service at Cornelly Community Centre, including the laying of wreaths at the Memorial outside the Cornelly Community Centre.
Remembrance Parade and Service
Sunday 10 November 2024, 10.25am
The parade, led by the City of Swansea Pipe Band, will muster in Adare Street at the junction with Wyndham Street at 10:25am.
The parade will step off at 10.40am and march to the War Memorial, Dunraven Place for a service conducted by Reverend Rachel Wheeler. Bridgend Male Voice Choir and Lewis-Merthyr Brass Band will provide musical support.

Act of Remembrance

Williams Memorial Hall, Coychurch
The Coychurch community will be holding a civic Act of Remembrance at the Williams Memorial Hall from 10.50am.
Service of Remembrance
Sunday 10 November 2024, 10am
Kenfig Hill
The Service of Remembrance in Kenfig Hill will start at St Theodore’s Church on High Street at 10am followed by a service and the laying of wreaths at the village’s cenotaph at Moriah Place at 10.45am. All are welcome at the church and at the cenotaph.
Please note: There will be a temporary road closure in place between St Theodore’s Church and the cenotaph between 10m and 11.30am for the service to take place.
The service is organised by Pyle Community Council.

Service includes Roll of Honour, The Last Post, Act of Remembrance and Laying of Wreaths.
Remembrance Sunday at Pyle Legion
Sunday 10 November 2024, 10.30am
Grounds of Pyle Legion, Pyle
A service of remembrance, including the laying of poppy wreaths, will be held at the new war memorial in the grounds of Pyle Legion at 10.40am. All are welcome and are asked to be at the Legion by 10.30am.
The new war memorial, that was built by the new Pyle and Kenfig Hill Veterans Association in partnership with Pyle Legion, was officially unveiled last summer. Following the service refreshments will be available in the club.
The service is organised by the Veterans Association and supported by Pyle Legion.

This service will be followed by a service at the village war memorial on Caerau Square at 10.55am.

Starting at Pencoed Social Club at 9.30am marching to a service at Salem Chapel, conducted by the Rector Ian Hodges and then onto the Cenotaph at in the town centre.

The service is organised by Cefn Cribwr Community Council. All are welcome at the church and on the common.

Bryncethin Memorial Hall
Traditionally there is a Service of Remembrance held at 2.30pm in the hall. This allows people to visit the Services at 11am in town or in Aberkenfig if they wish.
