Following the widespread disruption caused by Storm Bert, highway crews from Bridgend County Borough Council have been working on the clean-up operation.
The temporary road closure in place for the A4061 in both directions between Nantymoel and Rhondda Valley (the Bwlch Mountain Road) has been lifted. Works have been undertaken to remove all the fallen debris onto the highway and following the required safety checks, the road is now fully reopened.
The temporary road closure in place for the Dipping Bridge at New Inn Road in Merthyr Mawr has also been lifted as water levels have subsided and the road cleared of debris. Council workers will be in attendance to remove debris which has become lodged in the archways as soon as the river levels have receded.
Elsewhere, workers have been clearing debris caused by fallen trees and branches and flash flooding on main routes and highways across the county borough as part of the clean-up operation.
