Preparations in place for transition of waste and recycling service

Plans for the changeover of the council’s waste and recycling service provider are in place as new contractor Plan B Management Solutions prepare to take over from the outgoing Kier Group Ltd.

In readiness for the switchover on Tuesday 2 April, the online recycling and waste portal will be temporarily unavailable from 12noon on Thursday 28 March to midnight Sunday 31 March.

Residents who wish to order new or replacement recycling containers, or book a bulky waste collection, are advised to place their orders before 28 March, or after 31 March. 

There will be no changes to collection days or the frequency of kerbside collections, and recycling containers used by households will remain the same.

Plan B Management Solutions will also assume management of the community recycling centres and the existing vehicles, plant and equipment currently used by the Kier Group.

I am thrilled to welcome Plan B Management Solutions as our new waste and recycling partner. Their proven track record and commitment to service excellence brings a wealth of experience that can only result in an improved and efficient waste management service for our communities.

I would like to reassure residents that there will be minimal disruption to services during the changeover period and give thanks for their patience during this time.

We are delighted to be welcoming the transferring staff, many of whom we already have a relationship with as part of our arrangements with Kier.

Many of the Plan B staff have been involved with the Bridgend contract since 2016 and we are looking forward to continuing to work with the council and introducing some new initiatives which will benefit the local community.
