Bridgend County Borough Council has launched a new, public consultation over its proposals for regenerating Maesteg town centre.
With support from Welsh Government’s ‘Transforming Towns Programme’ and in partnership with development consultants Mott MacDonald, the council is working on a ‘Placemaking Plan’ for Maesteg town centre, aimed at creating future improvements that will bring benefits to everyone who works, visits, and lives in Maesteg.
To ensure the plan accurately reflects everyone’s priorities for the future of Maesteg town centre, the council is encouraging people to share their views by completing an online questionnaire or by attending organised drop-in sessions. All views and comments made during the consultation process will be considered by the team producing the placemaking plan.
The drop-in sessions will be held at Maesteg Library, North's Lane, Maesteg, CF34 9AA on the following dates:
- Friday 22 September 2023 – 2pm to 5pm
- Saturday 23 September 2023 – 10am to 1pm
The closing date for the consultation is Thursday 5 October 2023.
Our ambition for Maesteg town centre placemaking plan is to create an exciting, common vision for the town to encourage inward investment while maintaining the amazing heritage of the historic town. We hope to encourage and lead an array of exciting regeneration projects in and around the town centre to ensure it is sustainable, vibrant, and attractive for generations to come.
Your input is vital to ensure that Maesteg town centre has a robust plan in place to capture its full potential as an economy of the future, that encompasses community wellbeing and sustainability while reflecting its proud and unique history.
I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to complete the online survey or alternatively drop into the local library to share your views. Together we can create something amazing.
