Bridgend County Borough Council has been successful in applying for Listed Building Consent Delegation, allowing the organisation to deal with Grade ll listed building consent applications, without the need for referral to Welsh Ministers.
Following engagement with Cadw, the Welsh Government’s historic environment service, and agreeing to some specified conditions, the council was awarded delegation from 1 February 2023.
It is such a privilege to be granted Listed Building Consent Delegation by the esteemed Welsh Government service, Cadw.
Following the necessary changes to the Constitution and Officer Scheme of Delegation, resulting from our new responsibility, we can proceed in dealing with building consent applications, without having to involve Welsh Ministers.
The Senior Conservation and Design Officer will be overseeing any applications, offering valuable support and advice with cases.
We look forward to having autonomy in this area, whist fulfilling the responsibility to protect and enhance the historic environment.
Councillor John Spanswick, Cabinet Member for Communities
