Council’s Cabinet approves policy to safeguard funds of those receiving care

The Cabinet of Bridgend County Borough Council has just approved the ‘Supporting Individuals to Manage Money Policy’, designed to support Social Services’ Direct Care provision in assisting residents receiving care with their money management.

Informed by a wealth of resources, including meetings and discussions with staff from across the Social Services Directorate as well as a review of current legislation, the updated policy covers Adult and Children’s Services.

This is an important policy, setting out revised procedures to safeguard the funds of those provided with care and support from Social Services.

Offering consistency and clarity, the policy is a statutory requirement in supporting our vulnerable people with differing money management needs, from all walks of life.

It is vital to ensure that these individuals receive the finance management support that they deserve, providing all concerned with peace of mind.

Deputy Leader of Bridgend County Council, Cllr Jane Gebbie
