Bridgend County Borough Council has agreed to the transfer of monies under its Capital Programme funding pot to support the final stages of Maesteg Town Hall redevelopment.
The funding will be used to treat further sections of dry rot in the 141-year-old, Grade II listed building, while also taking preventative action to safeguard against future dry rot issues and secure the building for decades to come.
Council regeneration officers have also submitted an application for National Lottery Heritage Funding (NLHF) to help support the project.
The iconic building is undergoing a major redevelopment in the largest investment Maesteg town centre has seen in decades with the aim of restoring the building to its former glory and enhancing it with modern features such as a new glass atrium, studio theatre and cinema space, café and mezzanine bar, heritage centre and library.
The project has been funded by Welsh Government, Valleys Task Force, European Regional Development Fund, Awen Cultural Trust, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Maesteg Town Council and the Davies Trust.
