Class of 2023 celebrate A-Level results across Bridgend County Borough

Students across Bridgend County Borough have once again excelled with their A-Level results and schools are celebrating the hard work of both staff and pupils.

There have been many individual achievements and successes with many pupils getting into their first-choice universities and others embarking on other journeys like entering the world of work, beginning an apprenticeship, or going to college to continue studying.

Mike Stephens, Headteacher at Porthcawl Comprehensive, said: “It gives me a real sense of pride seeing the young people in our community rewarded for their hard work. There is a large debt of gratitude to our teachers who have worked so hard once again this year and our results truly reflect the effective partnership between the school, its learners and support from home.”

Meanwhile, Ashley Howells, Headteacher at Archbishop McGrath, added: “Huge credit must go to the pupils, but this is also a time to acknowledge and celebrate the support provided by families during the last seven years of education.

“School life was hugely disrupted because of Covid in 2020 and this cohort have had to overcome many disruptions. Fortunately, we have a first-class team of staff who ensure our pupils receive the highest levels of academic and pastoral support."

I would like to congratulate all pupils on their success as well as extending thanks to teachers, support staff, governors and parents for the support and dedication they have shown.

For those of you who didn’t get the results you were expecting today, don’t panic there are plenty of other opportunities available and I would encourage any pupils to seek advice from their school and Careers Wales.

• Talk to your school who can offer advice and support on what options are available to you.
• Visit the Careers Wales website where there are plenty of resources available to help.
• Look at some of the current job vacancies on the Bridgend County Borough Council website.
• Consider an apprenticeship where you can work alongside industry professionals, earn a wage, and develop your skills – visit the Welsh Government website for more information.
