Bridgend County Borough Council’s Assia Domestic Abuse Service has been recognised for its sterling provision through its recent SafeLives’ Leading Lights accreditation, a quality assurance indicator for domestic abuse services that is acknowledged across the UK.
Assia joins DASU (Domestic Abuse Safety Unit) and Gorwel, both third sector provisions based in North Wales, in receiving the acclaimed accreditation.
Working with organisations from across the UK to transform the response to domestic abuse, SafeLives is a charity dedicated to ending domestic violence. The Leading Lights accreditation programme is the first of its kind in the UK, created by experts in the field; it focuses on developing a quality service with a commitment to service provision, multi-agency working, human resources and governance. Adhering to the Leading Lights standards represents a practice that is effective, sustainable and, above all, safe.
We are thrilled to award Assia with the SafeLives’ Leading Lights accreditation.
Leading Lights is the mark of quality for domestic abuse services, and Assia has demonstrated a real commitment to providing a strong service to some of the most vulnerable people in our society.
We would like to commend and thank the team for their hard work and dedication.
Frances Keel, Leading Lights Practice Consultant
Carys Lord, Chief Officer for Finance, Housing and Change, said: “We are absolutely delighted that the Assia Domestic Abuse Service has received this accreditation. It recognises the commitment, passion and drive of this caring team. Following an arduous assessment process, this accolade is so well deserved!
“The Safelives’ Leading Lights accreditation denotes quality for domestic abuse services and is recognised across the UK.
“As a Leading Lights service, currently the only council led service out of the three accredited services in Wales, we guarantee that local families receive the very best provision and support possible. I would like to congratulate the team on their achievement – how lucky we are to have you!”
